Wednesday 9th November 2016, a hot day with temperatures at a sweltering 28 degrees, perfect to visit the Canterbury A & P “Country’s Coming to Town” show.

A great venue with an amazing vibe, catering for everyone!  Whether you and your family just want to go have fun and experience the music and entertainers, or whether you are an agriculturist, horse enthusiast, sheep herder, log chopper, wine maker, foodie or gastronomist…there is an overwhelming amount to see, taste and experience!

From the largest agricultural equipment and sleekest state of the art ski boats to rows and rows Food Stalls geared up to please and satisfy all tastes! Pork Belly Burgers, Mediterranean BBQ, the Black Forest Waffle Hut…to name just a few!

Entering the Food & Wine Village, there was a display of New Zealand’s winning wineries, where we were taken through a tantalizing taste journey!

The pavilion, also home to the Westinghouse Demonstration Kitchen, where some of New Zealand’s top Chef’s, including celebrity Chef Jax Hamilton, showcased their abilities and skills. Whilst I had the opportunity to catch up with Chef Mark, of restaurants Baretta and The Cuban in Christchurch, Chef Simo created quite a hype of activity, entertaining the audience with his interpretation of fresh and healthy cooking.

Best of all?  The food market…where we were greeted with fresh aromas from an array of internationally influenced flavors.  Vendors, using only their best ingredients, prepared specialty dishes to perfection for their guests!  An absolute standout for me was the scrumptious pan-fried pork and coriander dumplings!

You will most certainly see me again next year A&P Show!
