We are excited to welcome you to our Professional Barista Course.

This course will enable you to demonstrate knowledge of commercial espresso coffee equipment and prepare espresso beverages under supervision. You will also learn to make a variety of other hot and cold beverages.

At the completion of this course, you will be able to:

Entry requirements

You must be 14 years or older

Online Studies

You will complete your studies from your own home or workplace, via our Learner Management System. Our interactive user-friendly programme is designed to help you stay motivated whilst studying with International Culinary Studio.

Once registered, your student experience will be accessible and your learning material available on any pc, portable or mobile smart device (Technology Programme Requirements).

Our qualified Instructors will be available and will guide you through your programme to successful course completion.

You must have access to a commercial espresso machine for your practicals.

On completion of our Barista programme, you could progress into any of the other short courses. We recommend one or more of the following short courses as a good add-on.

The holder of this digital badge has successfully completed the Barista Industry Short Course with International Culinary Studio and has shown competency in the following areas:.

  • Customer service
  • Coffee History/ Growing regions
  • Coffee processing & Storing
  • Coffee grinding/ tamping
  • Espresso equipment
  • Milk texturing, stretching, preparing milk
  • Espresso variations- Ristretto, flat white, Macchiato, Cappuccino, Mocha
  • Other coffee brewing methods
  • Identify extraction faults
  • Tea infusion, steeping, brewing equipment
  • Cleaning and backflushing machine
  • Detecting and identifying common faults
  • Health and Safety Compliance

These skills are learnt via our blended learning model which is a combination of theory and practical assignments. Every practical assignment is videoed and submitted to our chef instructors for feedback.
