I chose International Culinary Studio for the flexibility of studying online at my own pace.

Over the summer season I was very busy with work and lost motivation.

My chef instructor was great and very helpful, we came up with a plan to get me back on track and my course completed.

I enjoyed the whole process, I did have to be very organised, but it was fun to do!

I have learned a great deal and it has improved my confidence.

I look forward to carrying on with my online business and perhaps open a permanent venue in the future – I may even study level 5!

I have always wanted to be a chef but never thought I could. I have ADHD, Asperger’s and low self-esteem and my mother said I would never amount to anything. I thought my dream job would remain just that, a dream.
I was encouraged to study by friends who thought International Culinary Studio’s approach would suit me. When I started the course, my life changed. The course is in easy steps, so you are doing one bit at a time making it less daunting. My chef instructor was brilliant, she always had time for me and had a great way of helping me not be overwhelmed by it all. The support was fantastic.
I could fit my course around my family, studying when the children were at school or in the evenings and weekends. It has changed my life, it has changed me, I have a new confidence in myself and my ability. I feel like I can do anything. I would highly recommend International Culinary Studio, this is helping people find their dream job, if I can do this anyone can!

Planting Your Spring Garden

Spring

Spring means the weather is heating up and soil moisture levels are still high, the perfect time to get into the garden and plant some trees, fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers.

Plant your fruit trees and berries as early in Spring as you can. “Planting early will help your root system get established, which is vital to longevity and fruit output.” The sooner you can get them in the ground before the hot, dry summer weather, the better. You want these plants to have an established root system, so they won’t have to work nearly as hard to stay hydrated in the heat of summer. here are some edibles you can plant throughout the spring months.

  • Gladiolus
  • Pansy
  • Cucumber
  • Beets
  • Carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Beans
  • Broccoli
  • Garlic
  • Potatoes
  • Onions
  • Raspberries

Future learn – HACCP for FREE !

Futurelearn

We are excited to add Introduction to HACCP for Food Safety, a new free trial course to Future Learn. The HACCP is included as part of the food safety module in our New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level 4 course. It gives you a taste of what we include in our course and what it’s like to study online and the way we do things.
What is HACCP?
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is an internationally recognised system used to identify and manage significant food safety hazards and ensure food safety for your business. HACCP can be used throughout all stages of the food chain, from primary production to final consumption, forming an important part of risk-based food safety programmes, such as:

  • Risk Management Programmes (RMPs)
  • Wine Standards Management Plans (WSMPs).

Chef Andy Facebook Group

When making your decision to study with us there are often questions as to how online will work. One of the ways we ensure our students know they have support and assistance for whatever they may need, is the Ask Chef Andy – ICS Student and Alumni Group on Facebook. It’s just for our students, it gives a direct line to our Executive Group Chef Andy and our chef instructors. This is also a great tool to give our students the ability to communicate with our other students, promoting peer support. With someone on the other side of the computer to answer your questions there’s never a moment when you don’t have support.
