Marlborough Sounds – Chefs required for Punga Cove Resort and Furneaux Lodge

Punga Cove and Furneaux Lodge are seeking Chefs to assist with the culinary experience in an idyllic setting in the Marlborough Sounds.

Punga Cove and Furneaux Lodge are located in Endeavour Inlet in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds and a direct boat ride out from Picton. We are located right on the Queen Charlotte Track, being a popular stop for walkers, mountain bikers and local boaties. Being accessible by boat, we pride ourselves on being a unique offering nestled on the Queen Charlotte Track.

Our menus are based around local, seasonal produce, showcasing the fantastic artisan producers that Marlborough is lucky to have. We have multiple food and beverage venues.

The primary purpose of these positions is to offer guests an exceptional first-class dining experience, by providing exceptional meals to the restaurant patrons. Ultimately to be a part a team establishing a Qualmark status restaurant.

Reporting to the Executive Chef and Lodge Manager, the core objectives of these roles are as follows but not limited to:

  • Work closely with a collective team of chefs, reporting to the on site Executive Chef
  • Foster an environment of inclusiveness and collaboration, creating a workplace where staff enjoy their work and workplace
  • Set standards and create consistency across the menu, driving the team to exceed guest expectations.
  • Comply with all KPI’s and processes, such as Food Safety Plans and financial targets.

About the role
Our dedicated Kitchen team are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join them at a number of our villages across the North Island.
You will be responsible for whipping up delicious quality home cooking and designing tasty menus for our residents in a restaurant environment. Alongside our kitchen manager you will help lead our team ensuring the coordination of the kitchen is effortless.
About you:

  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Commercial kitchen and or café experience is preferred
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Food industry qualification
  • Excellent food hygiene practises and personal presentation
