Welcome to 2021! Our team are all well rested after a lovely Christmas holiday break and ready for what is shaping up to be a busy year! We have plenty of exciting things planned and our January newsletter gives you just a taste of things to come! We are excited to help the next wave of students begin or develop their culinary careers and enjoy meeting students from what is always such a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, and skill levels.

The International Culinary Studio team embraced the tourism New Zealand, “do something new, New Zealand” campaign over the Christmas/ New Year holiday break. We braved the sometimes unseasonal weather, to venture far and wide and try new things – from zip lining, camping, berry picking and exploring to mountain carting!

If you are ready to get started with your study this year, we have the following intake dates available for the New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level 4 & 5, Global Certificate & Global Diploma in Cookery, ICS Certificate and Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Professional Cookery and ICS Diploma in Patisserie. We will advise of further intakes as they come available.
When putting your application in, please allow plenty of time for the enrolment process as we will need all enrolment documents and Studylink (NZQA Courses) confirmation before you are able to begin.
25th January 2021 – full and closed
22nd February 2021 (ends 8th November 2021)
29th March 2021 (ends 13th December 2021)
26th April 2021 (ends 10th January 2022)
31st May 2021 (ends 14th February 2022)

Karla Mohi – Patisserie Graduate

Karla Mohi is a busy lady and has managed to fit her study around work and being a mum. Her organisation and tenacity have seen her recently graduate with a City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie. Take a look here at some of her stunning creations. Karla is one of the last students to study the City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie as this course is no longer available anywhere in either New Zealand or Australia. Have a love for patisserie? New Year, New Courses!

We are taking a good look at our Industry Specific short courses over the next few months and giving them a revamp.  We are making sure they are providing our students with the level of skills and knowledge they are after as well as tailoring them to fit what employers need.

Starting with our New Café Chef and Café Baker courses, these are designed for those keen to get started working in a café kitchen but also great for learning new culinary skills. Available to all aged 16+ these can be completed in as little as 6.5 weeks. You can study from anywhere and do your practical assignments from any kitchen. The Café Baker & Café Chef courses will be ready for you to purchase in February!

New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level 4 Course Changes

Recently we have been working on some changes to our New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level 4 course which will roll out with our 25th January intake. We really appreciate the feedback we have received from our current and graduated NZQA Level 4 students and have taken this into account when planning our new look level 4 program of study. We believe we have created a better learning environment. The recipes will be easier to access, workflow, food costing and food evidence have been combined into one easy to use portfolio, it is now also easier to meal plan and there is a handy study guide.

Being an online provider, it is important that our students can have any IT related issues sorted promptly. We have recently set up a web page to log and track any issues that come up so they can be dealt with in a timely manner
